Terms of Service

Agreeing to these terms

Riff is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] (“Riff”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Riff.

Riff is in beta. Features change, break, and occasionally disappear.

Who can use Riff

You must be at least [MINIMUM AGE] years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself.

Your bits stay yours

You keep ownership of the material you write. To run the service we need your permission to use it, so you grant Riff a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt and publicly display and perform your bits and the audio and video generated from them — including turning your text into a performance, showing it in the feed, and using it in previews and thumbnails.

This licence exists so we can operate and promote the service. It ends for new uses when you delete the content or your account, though copies may persist in backups for a period and anything already shared by other people may remain with them.

AI performances

Riff turns text you write into a performance using automated voice and video generation. The output is generated by machine and may not match what you pictured. You are responsible for the words you submit and for the performances you publish from them.

Voice cloning

If you use voice cloning, you record a sample and we create a synthetic voice from it. You may only clone a voice you personally have the right to clone — your own, or one where you hold documented permission from the person it belongs to. Cloning someone else's voice without their consent is not allowed and may be illegal where you live.

We store your recording and share it with the vendors that perform the cloning. See the Privacy Policy for who they are and how long the sample is kept.

What you may not post

Keep it to comedy. Don't use Riff to:

  • Harass, threaten, or incite violence against anyone.
  • Post hate speech targeting people for who they are.
  • Impersonate a real person, or clone a voice without that person's permission.
  • Post sexual content involving minors, or any other illegal material.
  • Infringe someone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights.
  • Break the service — scraping, automated abuse, or working around limits and paywalls.

We can remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where it's practical we'll tell you why.

Credits, subscriptions and refunds

Generating performances consumes credits. Credits can be bought outright or included with a subscription. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your full card details.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the interval shown at checkout until you cancel, and cancelling stops future renewals rather than refunding the period you're in. Credits [DO / DO NOT] expire. Refunds are [REFUND POLICY — e.g. available within N days for unused credits]. Prices can change with notice for future billing periods.

Rankings are public

Reputation, venue tier and leaderboard position are part of the product and are visible to everyone, along with your username, display name, avatar, bio and country if you set one.

Ending things

You can stop using Riff and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms or creates legal risk for us or other users.

Service provided as-is

Riff is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't promise the service will be uninterrupted, that generated output will meet your expectations, or that content will never be lost.

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to Riff is limited to [LIABILITY CAP — e.g. the greater of amounts you paid us in the preceding 12 months or USD 100], and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; if the change is significant we'll give notice in the product or by email, and continuing to use Riff after that means you accept the update.

These terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION]. Questions go to [LEGAL CONTACT EMAIL].
